Huntington Beach Surf Classic Off to a Great Start

Day one is a wrap at the Huntington Beach Surf Classic! It was a successful day with a full house and competitive hunter, jumper, and medal classes. „We’re so happy to be at the Huntington Beach Surf Classic,“ said Edgar Pagan, trainer and Grand Prix show jumper. „We love this show because it’s a friendly atmosphere, the rings are nice, and our horses and riders always seem to have a great show here!“

Do you have a fast horse and an equally fast (human) friend? Stop by the office to sign up for the Stick Horse Relay, to be held right before the Grand Prix on Saturday afternoon. Teams consist of one horse and rider, and one runner. The horse and rider complete a 1.0m course of 6-8 fences, and then the runner rides his or her stick horse around an obstacle course. The team with the fewest faults and fastest time will win! Teams must consist of one adult and one junior, but it’s up to you to decide who rides the live horse and who rides the stick horse!

Stalls are already filling up for the Huntington Beach Summer Classic to be held August 9-12. Entries are due July 23, but get them in early to guarantee your spot. The Surf Classic sold out, and we’re expecting the same for the Summer Classic!

This weekend, don’t forget to stop by the Boot Shine Booth to get polished up, and the Thirsty Saloon for a refreshing beverage. Both benefit the Free Rein Foundation, which rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes horses that have been abused and enlists their help in Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine-Assisted Learning programs.
