In 1986, Peter Luther founded this equine training and sales centre, which is located in the idyllic Wittmoldt, at Plön. In 2006, his son Thieß took over the company and just like his father before him, dedicated himself to the training of young horses, to entering them in tournaments and also to marketing them.

Training of Horses and Riders

In recent years, the training of young show jumpers has become increasingly important at the Luther Stables.

Thieß Luther is a renowned trainer for promising show jumpers and has led training sessions for almost 25 years for the Schleswig-Holstein State Association, among others. He successfully trained his own children and has been regularly traveling for over ten years to Finland and Mexico, for example, in order to personally mentor his protégées with their training.

• Conducting of external training courses on-site
• Intensive training lasting over a period of several months, including tournament participation, for ambitious tournament riders from Germany or abroad.

Training

The training of young jumping horses as well as riders is of paramount importance and the main focus of the range of services provided by the Luther Stables.

Special attention is given to dressage training, as it lays the groundwork and is fundamental for subsequent parkour success. As a result, many breeders from Holsteiner horses choose to send their up-and-coming jumpers to Wittmoldt for training.

The Luther Team has sold a great number of horses to both amateurs and professionals over the last two decades. Peter and Thieß Luther are known for continuously specializing in the introduction of horses to top-class sports.

I started to ride ponies at the age of three and since then horses are part of my life. Thanks to training by the Olympic winner Dirk Hafemeister and base trainer Werner Bußmann, I made the state team when I was 12 and the German team when I was 13 and successfully competed in Nations Cups and German Championships.

Since 2009, I again live and work with my parents at their facility in Ahaus. At present my coach is the team world champion Markus Merschformann.

Aside from competing in international shows, I also train and get talented youngsters ready for shows, sell horses and help people find the horses they are looking for.

SERVICE & TRAINING

Our facility in Ahaus is located in the district of Borken, close to the Dutch border in the picturesque countryside west of Münster. We have more than 40 boxes available in which our sport horses and broodmares are comfortably kept.

For training there is a 55 x 25 meter indoor and a sand outdoor ring 100 x 55 meters as well as a free exercising facility with an inner circle for lunging. And then there are three booths for washing the horses and two solariums.

We use the entire 14.8 acres of grassland for making out own hay and we buy good quality feed and straw.

In summer the horses are put out on extensive pastures with wood fences and in winter on paddocks with good footing.

BREEDING

Whoever schools horses himself and competes with them at shows up to the highest level knows what is important in breeding.

That is why we are very selective when it comes to breeding and also raise our horses professionally. This includes gentle but solid schooling:

HORSES FOR SALE

A good horse alone is not a guarantee that riding will be a joy and you will be successful at shows. The horse and rider must fit with each other. That’s why we don’t just offer you high quality horses but also give you comprehensive advice.

There is something else that is important for us when we advise customers: Service does not end for us when you take off with your new horse in a trailer. We’re also glad to give you advice and help you in any way we can after the sale of the horse!

Training schedules
In order to perform up to international standards, the training for young riders needs to be planned goal-orientedly and comprehensively in addition to a functional organisational structure. The conditions to achieve this are created at different levels. It is of high significance to follow the designated qualifying systems as well as choosing suitable preparation competitions for championships.

Training facilities
Our yard offers ideal training conditions and is therefore consistently used as a training base by foreign riders who are stationed in Germany for several months at a time and make use of the excellent transport connection to Frankfurt airport and the motorways.
