Upper Marlboro, MD – On Friday, September 29, the 2017 Capital Challenge Horse Show hosted the Flat and Gymnastic Phases of the inaugural United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) 3’3” Jumping Seat Medal Final – East. On Saturday, September 30, beginning at 7 p.m. riders will return for the Jumping Phase – the final phase of the newly added equitation championship.
Riders will compete in the evening’s featured event in reverse order of their current standings, with Maverick Helmer of Roanoke, VA, returning last as the current USHJA 3’3” Jumping Seat Medal Final front-runner with 219 points. Sitting in second is Rachael Davis of Seattle, WA, with 213.5 points.
Riders’ points are the culmination of both the Flat Phase and Gymnastic Phase scores, with the Gymnastic Phase score multiplied by a co-efficient of 1.5 in order to place more weight on the challenging phase.
