The FEI Nations Cup Finals begin in two days. There has been a big change for the German team: Philipp Weishaupt, who earlier this month impressed with a clean victory in the Rolex Grand Slam of Spruce Meadows, won’t be competing in Barcelona. “The owner of LB Convall has decided, that the stallion shouldn’t compete. We are sorry to hear that, but we can’t change it”, says Otto Becker, head coach of the German team. Instead of Weishaupt, Denis Nielsen will compete in Barcelona. Accordingly, there will be a very young but also very competetive German squad, led by the experienced Marcus Ehning (43): Simone Blum (28), Laura Klaphake (23), Andreas Kreuzer (27) and Denis Nielsen (28). Last year, a very experienced German team won the title: Christian Ahlmann, Ludger Beerbaum, Daniel Deußer, Marcus Ehning and Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann. Now, the younger riders have to show their skills.

Competitions start on Thursday with the first round and the target of Otto Becker is clear: the direct qualification for the final on Saturday evening.
