The International Polo Club (IPC) Palm Beach will be the perfect setting for the 2014 Challenge of the Americas Friday night. It’s sure to be an evening of spectacular entertainment all to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation through Play for P.I.N.K.

IPC has hosted the event several times and it’s an idyllic spot both for the entertainment and the Challenge Gala afterward.

“It’s such a good, worthwhile cause,” John Wash, president of club operations at IPC, said. “I don’t think there’s anyone who hasn’t been affected by the disease. We’ve got the facilities so why not see how we can support it by opening our doors? All we try to do is offer the facility and some of the support staff to help put it on.”

Wash will also serve as a celebrity judge for the evening’s entertainment in which three teams of high-performance dressage riders from around the world participate in intricate quadrilles choreographed to music. New this year, the teams will also include superstar show jumpers riding a four-bar course to rack up more points for their teams. Competing riders include the “Who’s Who” of top equestrian competitors in the United States, Canada, Latin America and Europe.

With so many horses participating in the event, there has to be a way to house them, and that’s where Jamaica Tent Company of Riviera Beach, FL, comes in by providing stabling for the equine performers. The company has been providing stalls for the Challenge since 2006.

“We have an ongoing relationship with the Challenge of the Americas and have been helping them for a long time,” Alan Sadler, president and CEO of Jamaica Tent said. “It certainly is for a good cause.”

The evening will begin with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres followed by the opening ceremonies. Then, world-class show jumpers and dressage riders team up to compete for points and bragging rights. First, the jumpers will take to the field to tackle the four-bar course. Then, the quadrille challenge pits teams of Grand Prix dressage riders against each other as they perform intricate freestyle patterns to music. After the award presentation, the Challenge Gala will cap off the event with dinner and dancing.

Since the Challenge of the Americas competition as well as the Gala will continue past sunset, Sunbelt Rentals in West Palm Beach will help make the under-the-lights competition and party a reality.

Marco Auson, a community service representative with Sunbelt Rentals, said they are advocates for helping the non-profits in the area.

“If there is any local charity event and the equipment is available, we are more than happy to help out,” Auson said.

With the help of generous sponsors like the International Polo Club Palm Beach, Jamaica Tents and Sunbelt Rentals, the 2014 Challenge of the Americas is sure to be a night to remember.
