Last Wednesday has proved to be a memorable date, when Steve Guerdat became an Olympic champion. Riding the phenomenal Nino des Buissonnets, the rider was the single individual to secure two clear legs in the individual Olympics finals taking place in Greenwich Park. He has scored the gold medal and made a substantial landmark in the Swiss equestrian history. The previous Swiss rider to achieve this was Alphonse Gemuseus in 1925.

Not even 24 hours after his gold medal victory at the Olympic Games in London Swiss showjumper Steve Guerdat returned home to Switzerland. He landed at the Zürich airport around 5 pm yesterday and was welcomed by several hundreds of fans who celebrated the Olympic gold medal winner with flags, banners and typical Swiss cowbells.

The party continued at Guerdat’s stable called Rütihof in Herrliberg.
