The German Equestrian Federation (FN) stated yesterday that Matthias Alexander Rath has been fallen ill with infectious mononucleosis. Due to this acute infection  the 27-year old rider from Kronberg, Germany is obliged to have a break of at least 12 to 14 days. A start with Totilas at the CHIO Aachen is therefore impossible. Matthias’ father, Klaus Martin Rath will take over the training of Totilas during this time.

Moreover, the FN reported that Dorothee Schneider and the 10-year old Hannoverian-bred mare Diva Royal will move up into the German team for the CHIO Aachen. As the CHIO Aachen is the second mandatory selection trial for the German dressage riders on the way to the London Olympics, the national dressage coach Jonny Hilberath will travel to Kronberg together with the team vet Dr. Cordula Gather by end of next week. Both will check Totilas’ present state of fitness and training condition.
