Thai Equestrian sport continues to develop and produce results within the region. More
success has been realised by the Kingdom, after finishing second on the medal tally, of
all the equestrian sports, at the South East Asian Games (SEA Games) 2011 hosted by
Indonesia. Last weekend, Thailand fielded three (3) riders at the Singapore CSIY-B
(borrowed horses) 2012 event and finished second in both the individual and the teams
event. Last year, Showjumpinfo interviewed national Thai SEA Games showjumping
rider, Munsika Piyavidtayakarn, known as Fai to her friends, as a developing young
rider with bright prospects. Fai won the silver individual medal in Singapore over the
weekend with borrowed mount APH MR Sheen, as well as silver in the teams event
alongside her two team mates Siengsaw Lertratanachai riding Unicorn and Nattaporn
Triratanachat riding Le Lucky.
On the international scene, 2011 FEI HSBC Rising Star and American-based Thai
eventing rider Nina Ligon, continues to produce good results solidifying her campaign
for the London Olympics 2012. At the Poplar Place CIC 3* in Hamilton Georgia, Nina
Ligon had a smooth ride with Butts Leon winning the title on her dressage score and
also finished third riding Jazz King. Nina has four top-level eventing horses: Fernhill
Fearless, Tipperary Liadhnan, Jazz King and Butts Leon, and all except Butts Leon are
qualified for the Olympics.

“I like all four, but Fernhill Fearless is my favourite. I’ve had him the longest, understand
him the best, and we get along the best.” – Nina Ligon. The Equestrian Paradice Open
starts today, Friday 10 February 2012 in Nakhon Nayok, Thailand.
The event is the second round of the Thai championships and is organised by
Helena Gabrielsson (SWE), who is not only a well-accomplished international jumping
rider but also a major force behind the continued development of a unified FEI World
CupTM Jumping South East Asian League. Equestrian Paradice will host some events of
the FEI World CupTM Jumping SEA League. The region’s FEI World CupTM Jumping
