Dressage by the Bay Ride Times and Schedules Now Online! Horse Shows by the Bay Equestrian Festival Starts in Ten Days!
Jun 22nd, 2011 | By ts | Category: INTERNATIONAL NEWSTraverse City, MI – June 21, 2011 – Horse Sports by the Bay, Inc is excited to announce that the Riders’ Schedules for Dressage by the Bay Series I and Series II are now posted online. Dressage by the Bay is the first leg of the five week long Horse Shows by the Bay Equestrian Festival, slated to kick off at 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 30th at the beautiful Flintfields Horse Park in Traverse City, MI.
Dressage by the Bay is a two show series and is the only USDF rated show held annually in Northern Michigan. Dressage by the Bay Series I and II will feature a variety of classes from Training Level through Grand Prix, providing two opportunities for riders to qualify for this year’s GAIG/USDF Regional Championships and the USDF Breeder’s Championships.
The feature event of the competition, the $5,000 FEI Musical Freestyle, will be held on Friday, July 1st starting at 5 p.m. Ten horse and rider combinations are scheduled to compete in what is typically dubbed “dancing with the stars on horseback.” One by one, each pair will perform their own specialized ride to music, being judged not only on their technical accuracy but also on their musical interpretation and choreography.

Additional highlights of the weekend include The Molon Excavating Kid’s Day on Saturday, July 2nd, when the Grand Traverse and Leelanau County 4-H will be on-site providing various activity stations. Courtesy of Hampton Green Farm, proceeds from the gate Friday and Saturday will go directly back to the local 4-H.
Flintfields Horse Park is open during the Dressage show on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or close. Admission is $10 per day per person, except for Saturday when children under the age of 18 are admitted for free.
