Totilas fascinates Neumünster – Westphalian winner in the heart of Schleswig-Holstein

Neumünster –  The competitive pressure has grown for the show jumping riders- never before was the international Dressage as popular as in 2010 at the 60th VR Classics in the “Holstenhalle”. The Grand Prix de Dressage already attracted 4000 spectators in the morning and above all many fans to the public viewing screen in hall five. Everyone wanted to see Edward Gal and Totilas, the current “dream couple” that won, like several times before, the qualification for the World Cup freestyle – the price of Madeleine Winter Schulze on Saturday. However, it was not as obvious as usual. The first three riders ranged from 77 to 82 percent with Edward Gal and Totilas on first place, Adelinde Cornelissen (Netherlands) with Jerich Parzival on second and Isabell Werth (Rheinberg) with Warum Nicht FRH on third place. The team Olympic champion was happy despite “some minor errors” about her big Hanoverian chestnut Hannes: “He’s obviously grown in the past few months, today he wasn’t as involved with the flowerpots in the arena, which has caused us problems before.” Satisfied but not without self-critical remarks Edward Gal said: “Today Totilas was just a little tense, but during the competition he calmed down.” With standing ovations the audience celebrated the spectacularly moving stallion, who also fascinated the show jumpers into its finest. They gathered in the warm up

arena to simply watch him once. Edward Gal will start in the World Cup freestyle on Sunday at 11:30 o’clock, Isabell Werth with Hannes at 12:06 o’clock.

Mercedes-Benz Cup for Markus Renzel
The Westphalian Markus Renzel from Oer-Erckenschwick won the Mercedes-Benz Cup, presented by Süverkrüp + Ahrendt with his nine year old stallion Christopher Columbus and secured himself a prize money of 20,000 Euro. “I was a little bit lucky, but I also had the feeling that the audience somehow helped me,” said Renzel. The professional calculated the jump-of wisely with 35.69 seconds with a clear round. Lined up behind him the Swedish Rolf-Goran Bengtsson with Quintero La Silla and the Schleswig-Holstein Jörg Naeve (Bovenau) with his nine year old Calado. Naeve seized the opportunity to thank Paul Schockemöhle who, for the first time used all of the halls in the Holstenhallen: “It is a real improvement for us riders and also for the grooms.”
All three riders will compete in the Grand Prize of the Volksbanken and Raifeisenbanken on Sunday from 13.30 o’clock.
