Fürst Romancier gains victory on the 1st day of the World Championships
Aug 7th, 2009 | By HG | Category: INTERNATIONAL NEWS(Verden) Five-year-old Oldenburg stallion Fürst Romanicer won the first qualifier for the finale of the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses. The son of Fürst Heinrich/Romancier left the dressage arena at Verden/Aller with the mark of 8.76 which made his rider Dr. Ulf Möller smile contentedly. He presented the brown stallion on the first day of the World Championships on occasion of the International Dressage and Show- Jumping Festival. On second place in this class followed Blickpunkt by Belissimo/Weltmeyer with a mark of 8.48 and ridden by Eva Möller, Dr. Ulf Möller`s wife. Third place went to a Danish horse: Skovens Rafael is a stallion by Romanov Blue Hors out of a dam by Don Schufro and was presented by Lotte Skaebaek. Their mark was 8.44. The first day of the World Championships lured many spectators from all parts of the world: Spanish, Portuguese, English, French and also Japanese and Korean are the languages of experts around the arena of the WCh. The four-legged youngsters attracted much attention. In all three arenas of the show-grounds competitions for young horses were on the agenda. Around 5,000 spectators came to watch them on the show-grounds and in the stadium, more than on the first day of the previous year. Already on Wednesday about 2,000 came to Verden to watch the Herwart von der Decken- Show, the central mare show of the Hanoverian Association In the stadium the first qualifiers fort he Hanoverian Show-Jumper Championships started and above all the six-year-olds created quite a sensation. The judges saw an even better quality than last year. With the dream mark of 9.2 German Champion Eva Bitter and the Stakkato/Sherlock Holmes-daughter Salut d`Amour won the qualifier for six-year-old jumping horses. 13 horses achieved marks of 8.0 and better. Willi Brunckhorst from Wohlesbostel and his Hanoverian mount, the mare Crespa by Contendro I/For Pleasure reached first place (9.0) in the class for five-year-old jumping horses and another son of Stakkato, the chestnut gelding Stakkatos Stern out of a dam by Kolibri, Markus Döring (Warendorf) won the qualifier for four-year-old Hanoverian jumpers (8.6). Grand Prix on Samstag with flair of European Championships The Grand Prix de Dressage starting at 4.30 p.m. on Saturday will probably be one of the most interesting competitions of the Internations Dressage and Show-Jumping Festival, as Federal Trainer Holger Schmezer and the whole German dressage committee are going to wach the potential candidates for the German team for the European Championships at Windsor, Great Britain. The complete Grand Prix will take place on Saturday as of 4.30 p.m.. On Friday participants of the Grand Prix are offered the opportunity of free training in the Grand Prix-arena.
