A multimedia horse show
Jul 21st, 2007 | By HG | Category: INTERNATIONAL NEWSImages, sounds, and results in real time. To bring the competition into homes across the world, gathering top rider´s comments and predictions in an interactive setting: these are the objectives of the 11th “Vincenzo Muccioli Challenge”. Just turn on the computer and visit www.sanpatrignano.org/csi_live to watch the proceedings. Once inside, interviews with riders and technical staff are just a click away. Listen to the riders comments as they leave the winner´s circle, or watch the developments backstage. Discover the work and commitment of the 1800 young men and women of San Patrignano. Just one more click and travel to the heart of the event: the competitions. The course descriptions permit each visitor to look at fences individually or as a part of a combination. And all the classes can be watched as they happen, in real time. Ten seconds after each rider completes his or her course, the film of that rider is available to the public. This service is available thanks to Mauro Battistini, who been responsible for data entry at San Patrignano, and has worked in the field since 1985 at the world´s most important equestrian events. “Technology has definitely made our work easier. It´s easier to keep in touch with the jury box and the show offices. We are able to better serve the public and riders”, explains Battistini, “and the new broadband connections permits us to load “heavy” files such as videos”. But Battistini already has something new in his sights: “Web-cams have become smaller and the quality of the images keeps getting better. Soon we will be able to put small cameras on the riders and be able to see what they are seeing as they complete the course, as is already practice in other sports”.
